“If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?“

I saw Brave (in 3D!) last night – very impressed.

If you watch the trailer, the main character Merida will tell you that this is a movie about changing one’s fate.

*** spoiler alert – do not keep reading if you don’t want any spoilage! ***

Indeed Merida does change her fate, not by spells or sorcery, but by the true magic in which both her and her mother choose to believe.

That true magic is forgiveness.

It is Merida’s choice to choose unity over the wounds of her past that change her destiny into one full of both joy and purpose.

I’d like to pose you the same question that Merida asks everyone in the audience:

“If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?

The cost of freedom is no cost at all – as Merida’s story so beautifully showed. The “price” you must pay is only the weight of your grudges and burdens.

Kudos to all the movie makers – the credits could have filled a novel!

And if you do see the movie, stay for the 15 second snippet at the end 😉

Here is a Mother’s Day sequence from Pixar:
